A Few Ideas About Auto Insurance Fraud

Auto Insurance Fraud

This is a curse in the car insurance industry and in the wider field of insurance. Recently in Britain police have been targetting organised gangs of fraudsters who deliberately set out to cause road accidents so as to make an insurance claim. These men, like the proverbial 'man in the street', think that insurance companies are like piggy-banks that one can dip into and no harm done.

After all, they're very big companies and they have lots of money. What they don't consider that this is actually a crime and that what they are doing affects the wider public negaltively in the long run.

People think "Ah, the insurance will cover my little (fake) claim, they've pots of money" Then they rage at premiums going up across all the other forms of insurance used across society.

To fight back, insurance companies my examine claims very throughly and do detective work, literally and figuratively. To them, after seeing thousands of accidents, there are things about people's little cons that do not look the same as a real accident. And then, there's the fine print in a policy.

The fine print means that you may not be covered for what you think you are covered for. So it's worth checking from the following what actually is covered in yours.

You can also get as part of your policy:

  • Breakdown cover;
  • Pay-as-you-go;
  • Legal protection policy;
  • No claims discount protection policy.

Factors Affecting Insurance Premium Amounts

  • Your driving record (clean or not);
  • Security features: make your car harder to steal or damage;
  • Your age: young drivers attract a higher premium;
  • Your job: this often determines how many miles you drive each day;
  • How 'flash' your car is: the flashier the car the more likely it is to be stolen and for the driver to take risks in it;
  • The engine power: the higher the cc, the hire the premium;
  • Parking: is it parked on the street, off-road or in a garage?
  •
